I dyed my hair red last Wednesday and as gross as this will probably seem to most people, I hadn’t washed it since until tonight (I have showered though, never fear). My hair was killed by the bleaching I did to it several months ago so I don’t really worry when it gets a little oily from not washing it, I really didn’t want the red to wash out, and basically I’m just incredibly lazy about it. But when I do wash it, I usually just use Organix conditioner and no shampoo. I had read about using apple cider vinegar as a replacement for conditioner a few months ago but never tried it. I decided to give it a shot tonight since I’m sick of conditioners & shampoos stripping the red out of my hair. I’m so glad I did! My hair feels awesome. It has a really nice shine and the red didn’t fade at all. The only downfall is how horrible it smells while I’m in the shower but I don’t really smell it at all right now when it’s dry & straight. I’ve read about using baking soda instead of shampoo so I suppose I’ll try that as well if it gets too oily! Considering Organix is $6+ per bottle, I’m hoping this will cut down costs and keep my hair much healthier! :)
